Marathon Sports Agency & Valdora at Timberman Tri in N.H.

Sunday, August 23rd, 2009

Valdora proudly sponsored the Timberman Tri in New Hampshire. As the Bike sponsor, Valdora was prominently featured in both the race corrals and the expo site.

Unfortunately, the weather didn’t cooperate – it rained both days, and it was not a pretty sight for the athletes. I had the help of my lovely bride over the weekend, and it wouldn’t have been as successful as it was without her there.

The Capital Multisport Tri Club, led by Mark Lamper was a force to be reckoned with over the weekend. Featuring 8 Valdora bikes, the club posted solid results in both the Sprint and 70.3 Half Ironman Tri’s.

This race is truly special. It’s very hilly, but the lake swim is pristine, and the crowd support on the run is top notch. Many of the best amateur triathletes from all over the Northeastern US and Canada come to this event.

Oh, by the way, Andy Potts and Chrissie Wellington won the Pro’s 70.3 here. Not bad company to be in.

Lincoln Murdoch posts another overall victory at the Valley Triathlon near Omaha, NE. After the race, an exuberant Murdoch explains: “I won this race on the bike, no doubt. Took the lead early in the bike leg and built a lead that I was able to hold during the run. The Valdora PHX with Valdora’s deep rim wheels are SO fast not to mention the sweetest looking bike at the race! I believe I averaged over 24mph. Thanks for your support, great products and company.” Thanks to you, Lincoln and your continued support and fantastic results!

Next up:
The USAT Sprint National Championships for the Age Group World Championships in Australia in September. Congratulations Lincoln Murdoch…

Valdora Scores Big in the Triathlete 2009 Bike Buyer’s Guide

Sunday, March 22nd, 2009

Valdora had not one, but two bikes reviewed and reccomended in the 2009 Bike Buyer’s Guide in Triathlete Magazine. This is a huge honor for the company, and it goes to show how world class these bikes are. In addition to the bikes, the Valdora Clip on Aero Bar was also selected.

Valdora AC-Tri

This bike was a reccomended bike in the $1,599 and Under category, and it was the ONLY selection that was a fully assembled Bike (the other 2 choices were only framesets).

The Review:
The Value-oriented AC-Tri features a semi-compact, tri-specific aluminum frame, complimented with a 380-gram carbon fork. A Shimano 105 groupset, FSA crankset, and Profile Designs aerobar complete the package. The AC-Tri is one of the only complete tri bikes on the market for less than $1500, making it a solid option if you’re just starting out in multisport.

Truth be told… There isn’t one Shimano 105 component on this bike – it’s all Ultegra and Dura-Ace, makeing it an even better buy.

Valdora PHX

In the extremely competitive $3,000 to $4,500 price category, the Valdora PHX was selected as one of the reccomended Tri Bikes. With additional options listed from Scott, Look, Specialized, Felt, asd Cannondale, it was a flattering honor to be selected into this group. It was one of fourteen bikes chosen.

The Review:
Valdora may not be a household name in the tri world, but its bikes are worth a look, especially if you prefer a semi-compact frame. Valdora offers a reasonable spec for this price, but it also offers single component upgrages at deep discounts – something you won’t see from a lot of manufacturers. For only $170 extra, they’ll toss on a pair of Dura Ace 7900 derailleurs (it’s worth it), or you can tack on the super-aggressive SR1.0 aerobar for an extra $460.

Valdora Clip-on

The Valdora Clip-on aerobar extensions are the same extensions used on the world class SR1.0. The feature a stunning Wide Weave carbon with a slight S bend. They fit into a standard 22.2mm clamp, and they will fit on both standard and oversized bars.

The Review:
The new 260-gram clip-on has standard and oversized bar compatibility, infinite adjustability and is supplied with three risers for optimal fit.
