Marathon Sports Agency to Represent AquaJoe

Wednesday, April 15th, 2009

In a deal that was quick to surface, the Marathon Sports Agency has agreed to represent AquaJoe Products, LLC. The New Jersey based company has found a niche in portable hydration systems that are both Green (environmentally friendly), and lighter than other hydration options for endurance athletes. The AquaJoe is a plastic cylinder with a rotating Scoop/ dispenser on the top. It is simply filled with powder of the athletes preferred sports drink and then attached to a race number belt, a water bottle holder, a key ring, a shirt pocket, or anything else that the athlete may bring with him. When he needs the sports drink, he simply empties the pre measured contents of the AquaJoe into a water bottle and he has his sports drink. No need to mix at home and carry a heavy belt with liquid – any water station will do.

I used this on several long runs, and it was ideal. I put the AquaJoes (I took 2 of them) on a water belt, and I put empty water bottles on there along with a Liquid Shot from First Endurance. Then I stopped at a couple of drinking fountains, made my mix and was back on my way. The belt weighed less than a half pound as compared to almost 2 1/2 pounds when it was pre filled. Hey, 2 pounds is 2 pounds. If I can run with 2 pounds less on a 20 mile run, I’m all for it. I also ran out of sports drink when it was pre filled, and it’s usually warm by the time I drink it.

Give it a try. I was pleasantly surprised by how nice it was to use this thing. I was also slightly miffed at myself that I didn’t figure this out for myself. :) Considering the cost, size, and ease of use, this is one training partner you won’t want to be without.
